CHARACTER
» Name: Gracia Hughes
» Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
» Reference: http://fma.wikia.com/wiki/Gracia_Hughes
» Canon Point: Post 108 (Manga)
» Gender: Female
» Age: not stated in canon, but late twenties.
» Orientation: Shown in canon to be heterosexual, being married to Maes Hughes
» Personality: Kind-hearted. Motherly. Both are words to describe Gracia Hughes, but those aren't the only things that make up Gracia.
Underneath the softness, lies a heart of steel, one capable of continuing on despite the loss of her husband under sudden and brutal circumstances, something that not a lot of people are able to do. Yet she is still kindhearted, showing Winry how to make an apple pie, yet staying strong, not crying until after Edward and Al leave with Winry after they learn about Hughes' death. That steel core is what Maes loved about her the most.
Gracia is the foil for Maes, her calmness balancing his exuberance, and serving as the anchor for their marriage, giving him something worthy to return home to, despite his bloody hands. Amused and at times startled by his besottedness over Elicia, Gracia allows him to be the indulgent parent, serving as the one who imposes order, that steel core showing once more. She does call him an 'obsessive parent', referring to Maes' gushing over Elicia's confusion over her age.
Her motherly streak comes into play when Maes brings Winry over the day of Elicia's birthday party, allowing the girl to stay after visiting Edward in the hospital. Gracia insists on Winry attending the party even though she just met the Hughes family, welcoming her into their home. She essentially adopts Winry by the simple fact that Elicia is attached to Winry, to her surprise, with Maes calling the girls 'sisters' and by extension the Elric brothers, serving as a solid female influence to all of them.
Gracia reserves more of her care for Elicia, though, having to be both mother and father after Maes passes, intent on raising her as he would have wanted Elicia to be raised.
» Appearance: Gracia has blonde hair worn in a page boy style, and large green eyes that she gifted to Elicia. She has a trim, curvy figure and usually prefers a dress with a jacket or cardigan over top.
» Suitability: N/A

SAMPLES
» "amatomnes" Entry: [voice]
[After a few minutes of fumbling, and a distant squeak of dismay, a feminine voice, firm, yet soft speaks, with a curious note at this method of communication]

My name is Gracia Hughes, and I would like to know why I am here, and where is my daughter, Elicia?

I was told, barely, where I am and what is expected here, as distressing as the news is, but nothing that I really wanted to know. [Barely and grudgingly given, even. That was not a very pleasant experience on top of waking up here of all places.] The maids are really not very friendly, are they?

[her voice changes, the tone indicating she would like an answer please.]

I want my daughter back. Now.

» "amatomneslogs" Entry:
Green eyes blinked open, as Gracia sat up, the sheet pulled up to her neck as she stared at the room. This was not her bedroom. The decor was much too opulent for Amestris, being something entirely foreign. She shifted in the bed, then froze as a familiar feeling made itself known.

No. No, it can't be. I couldn't have- She choked at that, looking around in growing terror at the room, but nothing said that someone else had been here, other than her neatly folded dress. Was it someone else? Why can't I remember? As her hands touched her clothes, fragments of a dream, maybe, hopefully struck her, scattered images of a familiar body, a voice that still haunts her dreams, sending warm reminders of what had been through her body. What happened? Why can't I remember?

But that was then and this is now, and where was Elicia? She is going to wake up soon. Where is she? Hurrying through dressing, Gracia's concern was not herself, but her daughter, left alone in a strange place. I have to find her.

Gracia smoothed her hair out of habit, glancing around the room for anything that said she was not the only one here. Fingers snagged on something around her throat, and alarmed, Gracia hurried to a mirror. A chill skittered down her back at the sight of the choker around her throat, something she never wore. First she woke up as if she had intercourse with someone, though perhaps it was just a wishful dream and now this thing around her neck? And where was Elicia?? What sort of place was this?

Pulling away from the mirror, her eyes spotted a very odd device, something that looked almost futuristic to her shell-shocked mind. Picking it up, Gracia was stymied by it, and nearly overwhelmed by this entire experience, but the thought of her daughter alone and crying for her mother or even Maes strengthened her resolve. Taking a deep breath, Gracia left the room, device securely in hand to seek out Elicia and answers, preferably Elicia first.
